Rebuilding Strength in the Golan: A Passover Message

As we approach Passover—a time of freedom, resilience, and renewal—we are reminded of what it truly means to endure hardship and emerge stronger.

Today, in the Golan Heights, that message is not symbolic. It is real life.

For families living in Israel’s north, the past months have brought a constant and unrelenting reality. Sirens, uncertainty, and disruption are no longer occasional—they are part of daily life. Parents are raising children where routines are fragile, schools are interrupted, and once-thriving communities are under immense strain.

And sometimes, that reality becomes heartbreakingly real.

Earlier this week, the Golan community was shaken by devastating news.
Nuriel Dovin z”l, a 27-year-old from Bnei Yehuda, was tragically killed by Hezbollah rocket fire near the Machanayim Junction.

Nuriel was more than a headline.
She was a daughter, a sister, a partner, and a pillar of her community. A youth counselor. A caregiver. A reservist combat soldier. Someone deeply committed to building the future of the Golan—someone who showed up for others, every single day.

Now, an entire community is grieving.

At this difficult time, the Golan embraces her parents, Yoram and Shoshana, her siblings, her partner, and all who loved her. Educators, community leaders, and support teams are working closely with children and families trying to process an unimaginable loss.

This is not an isolated moment.
This is the reality people are living in—every single day.

But what often goes unseen is what happens between the headlines.

It’s the quiet toll—the shuttered community spaces, the paused educational programs, and the steady erosion of normal life. It’s the small, everyday pieces that make a community feel whole—and how many of them are now missing.

And yet, it’s also the quiet resilience.
Communities continue to push forward, to support one another, and to rebuild in whatever ways they can.

And despite everything, the people of the Golan remain incredibly strong.
They are not leaving. They are not giving up. They are choosing, every single day, to stay, to build, and to believe.

Now, they need us.

At Friends of the Golan Heights, our mission is not only to respond to crisis—but to rebuild what’s been shaken and restore what’s been lost.

We are:

  • Reinvesting in education so children can learn with stability again
  • Supporting local initiatives that bring life, strength, and continuity back to these communities

Because a strong Golan is not just about land—it’s about people.

This Passover, you have the opportunity to make a real, immediate impact.

  • Donate today to help rebuild lives in the Golan Heights
$100, $500, or $1,000 goes directly toward restoring homes, supporting families,
  • and rebuilding community spaces
  •   Your support brings stability, dignity, and hope to families living this reality every day

Together, we can ensure that the Golan Heights is not only protected—but thriving.

Wishing you and your family a meaningful and uplifting Passover.
