US Approves Emergency $3 Billion Arms Sale to Israel

The United States has approved an emergency $3 billion arms sale to Israel, bypassing the usual congressional review process. The Pentagon announced the decision on Friday, notifying Congress without the standard approval from the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

The sale includes 35,529 general-purpose bomb bodies designed for one-ton “bunker buster” bombs, along with 4,000 fully assembled one-ton bombs manufactured by General Dynamics. These weapons are scheduled for delivery beginning in 2026.

Additionally, a $675 million package, set for delivery in 2028, will provide Israel with 5,000 half-ton bombs and upgrade kits to convert them into precision-guided munitions. Another $295 million deal will supply Caterpillar D9 military bulldozers, a key tool used by the IDF for combat engineering and battlefield operations.

The Pentagon stated that some of the ordnance might come from existing U.S. stockpiles, allowing for expedited delivery if necessary. The approval of this arms sale underscores the ongoing military cooperation between the U.S. and Israel, particularly during heightened regional tensions.
