Hostage Families Demand Action on 500th Day of War

As Israel marks 500 days since the October 7th massacre, the anguish of hostage families remains raw and unrelenting. Today, their voices rang out across Jerusalem, demanding immediate government action and an end to the captives’ suffering.

From dawn, families marched to the Knesset, holding banners emblazoned with their loved ones’ faces. “500 days of silence from our enemies, but our cries grow louder,” declared Leon Ben Baruch, father of hostage Edan. Outside the Prime Minister’s Residence, hundreds united in prayer and protest. “Every day is agony,” said Morabit Meyer, whose nephews remain in Hamas captivity. “The government must act with strength, not concessions.”

In Tel Aviv, demonstrators filled the streets with chants of “Bring them home now!” and “No more waiting—act now!” Participants called for military pressure over negotiations, condemning international passivity and demanding decisive action against Hamas.

In a show of solidarity, families and supporters began a 500-minute fast, a symbolic act highlighting the suffering of the captives. The rallies echoed with determination: “Not one day more. Not one hostage forgotten.”

This day of defiance sent a clear message: Israel’s resolve will not break, and its duty to bring every captive home must be met with strength and action.
